Who Qualifies For The Bursary Or College Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened the 2025 application process.

Applications are actually open and can close on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to fulfill the subsequent criteria:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who comes from a house by using a combined gross residence income that does not exceed R350 000 for every annum.

• People with disabilities qualify if their combined domestic money does not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and need not post any proof of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent citizens from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for every annum.

Applicants are reminded to supply the correct nsfas check Identification Document numbers, names, and surname, as mirrored in their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds people who are studying or plan to study in a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
